Mills of the River Wandle

The Wandle was once described as the hardest worked river for its size in the world.

Mills along its banks produced everything from flour and snuff, to copper, paper, leather and textiles.

Discover more about the rich manufacturing history of the river and its historic mills at this free illustrated talk by Mick Taylor of Wandle Industrial Museum. The presentation is accompanied by a fascinating range of slides where you will certainly learn something new about Merton's industrial heritage.
